#35 18 strategic frameworks, a thesis in one sentence: the diagnosis that fits in one hour

A traditional strategic audit involves three weeks of work, a consultant demanding your accounts, organizational charts, and committee minutes, followed by an 80-page report that no one ever reads. FOS Réunion, a social tourism association that had recently undergone receivership, had neither the time nor the budget for that. The Strategic Diagnostic takes the opposite approach: you enter a company name, and the system does the rest.

Start with a name, not a questionnaire

The starting point is intentionally minimal: a name, a SIREN number, or an establishment. The application then automatically retrieves public data: data.gouv.fr for company identity, BODACC for insolvency proceedings, INPI for capital and beneficial owners, INSEE for the NAF code and workforce size, and Google for reviews and online presence. For FOS Réunion, this is sufficient to create a clear picture: SIREN 314 694 977, NAF 55.2Z, four holiday centers, €1.06 million in cash reserves, and a Google rating of 3.5 out of 5 based on 73 reviews. You can enrich the data with your own documents (annual accounts, business plan, articles of association), but the analysis already runs without them. Each section displays a confidence score out of 5, so you know what is based on solid data and what remains a hypothesis.

18 frames, six tabs, one reading experience

The 18 frameworks are not randomly stacked. They are organized into six tabs that follow the logic of a leader:

  • Analysis (Porter, PESTEL, McKinsey 7S, stakeholders, value chain, VRIO)

  • Finance

  • Models (Business Model Canvas, VPC)

  • Digital presence, Marketing (personas, JTBD, Ansoff, SWOT 2.0)

  • Synthesis.

The goal isn't to have 18 isolated analyses, but to foster dialogue between them. Regarding FOS Réunion, Porter's Five Forces analysis highlights weak sectoral attractiveness (4 out of 10), driven by the power of the beneficiaries. The VPC (Virtual Customer Profile) reveals a 2 out of 5 alignment between promise and experience (cockroaches, odors, and faulty equipment are mentioned in the reviews).

The financial health shows an occupancy rate that has fallen from 39.8% to 32.7%.

Three executives, one same story: quality drags reputation down, and reputation drives employment.

A thesis, not a catalogue of observations

This is where most audits fail: they describe without taking a definitive stance. The Synthesis approach does the opposite. It begins with a Gate (Vigilance, OK, or Alert), followed by a one-sentence thesis, then the issues rated by severity, the opportunities ranked by effort, and the risks as a probability times impact. For FOS Réunion, the thesis is a single line: improve the quality of the coastal bungalows, commercially develop the Makes site (125 underutilized beds) for schools and works councils (excluding La Poste/Orange), and finance everything using available cash flow to supplement institutional co-financing. Each recommendation is tagged with the managers who support it. You don't receive an opinion; you receive a demonstration.

And now ?

A diagnosis is only valuable if it leads to a decision. The Strategic Diagnostic condenses what used to take weeks into a one-hour review, and most importantly, it provides a recommendation that your committee can validate or challenge based on supporting documentation. If you run an SME or an association and feel your strategy deserves an objective reassessment, the Agence Alps team can conduct a Strategic Diagnostic on your organization and provide you with the corresponding actionable thesis. All you need is a name to get started.
